→ Since the motor operates at a constant speed without a VFD, the power consumption without a VFD (P1) can be calculated as follows:
→ P1 = P_rated x Load profile = 100 kW x 0.60 = 60 kW
Step 2:
→ Calculate Power Consumption With VFD (P2)
→ With the VFD, the motor's speed can be adjusted to match the actual load.
→ Let's assume that with the VFD, the motor operates at an average load of 30% of its rated power.
→ P2 = P_rated x Load profile with VFD = 100 kW x 0.30 = 30 kW
Step 3:
→ Calculate Power Savings
→ Now, we can calculate the power savings achieved by using the VFD:
→ Power Savings (%) = [(P1 - P2) / P1] x 100 = [(60 kW - 30 kW) / 60 kW] x 100 = (30 kW / 60 kW) x 100 = 50%
