(1). RRTS has been renamed "Namo Bharat"

→ On the eve of the RRTS's opening, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri declared that the trains' names will be "Namo Bharat."

However, the NCRTC had previously referred to RRTS trains as "RAPIDX" in April.

Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot are the five stations that make up the priority section, which runs from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot.

It's important to note that the section running from Duhai to Duhai Depot functions as a spur leaving the main corridor.

"Passenger services are expected to start on October 21 in the morning.

From 6 am to 11 pm, trains will be in service.

Trains will initially operate at intervals of 15 minutes, with the potential to increase frequency as necessary in the future, according to an official.

(2). Transportation method

The RRTS is a cutting-edge, rail-based commuter transit system that provides high-frequency, semi-high-speed services.

While its operating speed potential is up to 160 kmph, it is built with a maximum speed capability of 180 kmph.

On March 8, 2019, Prime Minister Modi laid the cornerstone for the RRTS Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Corridor.

By June 2025, the ambitious project hopes to have the whole 82.15-kilometre line up and running.

The corridor is anticipated to dramatically cut the travel time between Delhi and Meerut to around 55 minutes once it reaches full operational condition, compared to the current three to four hours it takes by road.

(3). A Train Fare

The tariff is fixed at Rs 50 for a one-way trip along the priority part of the RRTS route from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot station.

The cost of traveling on the same route in a premium-class carriage, on the other hand, is Rs 100.

The ticket for this travel is Rs 20 if a passenger boards and departs from the same station, such as Sahibabad station.

Children with heights under 90 cm would be permitted to travel for free, according to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).

The NCRTC, which is a group involving the central government and state governments from Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, is building the RRTS corridor.

The NCRTC is in charge of building the first RRTS line in India, which will link Delhi and Meerut.

According to authorities, commuters have the option of purchasing a paper QR code-based ticket, which can be purchased from ticket counters at the stations or through ticket vending machines (TVM).

Unified Payments Interface (UPI)-capable ticket vending machines (TVM) have been installed to make it easier to buy paper tickets with QR codes and to recharge the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC).

According to authorities, passengers may purchase tickets from a TVM using cash, bank cards, National Common Mobility Cards (NCMCs), and UPI.

Since each train has a general carriage with enough room for a wheelchair and a medical stretcher, the priority section will also be used to convey passengers.

Officials mentioned that they made some elevators at the stations bigger so that they could fit a stretcher if needed.

These trains have CCTV cameras, an emergency door-opening system, and a button to contact the train operator among its safety measures.

(4). 6 Coaches

Six coaches make up each "Namo Bharat" train, one of which is designated as a luxury carriage.

Notably, one coach in each train is designated for women only, and it is situated next to the first-class vehicle.

According to the authority, these coaches' seats have serial numbers.

According to authorities, there are allocated seats for women, people with special needs, and older citizens in the other coaches in addition to the premium coach and the designated women's coach.

The seats on premium coaches have a distinguishing colour code that makes them easy to identify, and they include a number of facilities designed with commuters in mind.

Some extra things that make travel better are vending machines, seats that can lean back, hooks for coats, places to put magazines, and footrests.

The luxury carriage will be accessible to passengers only through a guarded VIP lounge on the platforms.

For enhanced comfort and convenience, these premium lounges have vending machines and padded couches.

According to authorities, it takes commuters using this line about 12 minutes to get from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot stations.

(5). Safety

Platform screen doors (PSDs) are installed in each RRTS station as an added element of security.

For increased safety and security, these PSDs are completely connected with RRTS train doors and the signaling system.

According to authorities, the trains have a push-button feature on their doors that allows passengers to board and alight when the train stops at a station.

They say they did this to save energy.

The button works only when the train is completely stopped at a station.

According to authorities, the coaches' door functioning will initially be automated, and train attendants and ground workers will help passengers until they grow acclimated to the new technology.

A top official has stated that the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UPSSF) has been given the task of guaranteeing the security of all the stations in the state by the Uttar Pradesh government.
