Over the past several years, as demand for brilliant white LED lights has increased, installation of aftermarket LED headlights has skyrocketed throughout India. Even though many automakers equip their vehicles with white LED headlights as standard equipment, many drivers choose to have aftermarket installation done if their automobile has factory-installed yellow bulbs.
Gujarat states that the Transport Department of the Government of Gujarat has apparently issued a regulation prohibiting the installation of unapproved white LED headlights in any kind of vehicle.

According to the letter, owners of vehicles found to have modified their vehicles, such as installing white LED lights, would be subject to fines. A campaign to target automobiles with illegal lights has apparently been launched by the Ahmedabad RTO. The Gujarat government’s Commissionerate of Transport has emphasized the gravity of the problem in the instruction.
Drivers approaching from the other direction may be blinded by the glare of the white light produced by the white LED lights and extra lights, which emit an excessive amount of brilliant white light. Consequently, this may cause a serious and deadly accident.
All RTOs falling under the Commissionerate's purview have been directed under the order to carry out enforcement drives and provide reports detailing their actions. Urban locations are not the only places with a problem with LED lights fitted aftermarket.

White LED headlights are a big distraction for other cars and drivers on national roads, which has led to many accidents. The Commissioner of Transport issued a formal instruction for strict enforcement after it was claimed that the Commissioner had received several complaints regarding unapproved white LED lights creating diversions.
The article also said that the police will target car accessory stores that sell and install illegal white LED lights and pursue legal action against the owners of the vehicles that install these lights.
